The Team

Meet our trainers

The people who will actually handle your dog.

Kristen Miller

Kristen grew up in upstate NY. Her love for German shepherds began when she was 8 years old, and her dad brought home a 4-month-old German shepherd puppy named Shannon. Shannon lived to be 15 years old and was a big part of Kristen’s growing up years.

Kristen moved to northern Virginia in the early 1990’s. She has owned 3 German shepherds since being in VA; Jasmine, who lived to be 11, Murphy 12, and her current companion Remi, who is 7. Remi is a Haus Juris dog. Kristen started training at Haus Juris with Remi, who has since earned her Canine Good Citizen, Advanced Canine Good Citizen, Urban Canine Good Citizen, and Performer Level Trick Dog titles. Kristen is a Canine Good Citizen evaluator and is currently a trainer for the puppy classes at Haus Juris.

Sara Smith

Sara is a native Virginian who’s love for dogs started when she memorized a dog breed book with around 200 listed breed at 10 years old. She grew up wanting to train any animal she could get her hands on, and her dream came home when her dad brought home her first dog, a rescued Border Collie puppy named Gizmoe. Sara grew up riding/training horses and training her own dog to do tricks and hike everywhere. Sara then became a K9 Coach with Semper K9 in college and trained service dogs for veterans for a few years to get hands on experience as a trainer. Sara is a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator for AKC and teaches Private and group lessons at Haus Juris. In her spare time now she loves training her Border Collie, Bluebell, and loves trying out different dog sports with her such as Herding, Agility, and Scent work.
